Rest of India inch closer to victory

Rest of India inched closer to victory as Delhi, chasing a target of 378, finished the third day of the five-day Irani Trophy match at 113 for 3 in their second innings at Vadodara today. Delhi opener Goutam Gambhir with an unbeaten half-century now stands as the main hope for his team`s victory. He found a gritty ally in Rajat Bhatia (31) and the duo cobbled together 76 runs to steady the ship before the right-hander fell to harbhajan Singh in the last delivery of the day. Earlier, Delhi spinner Chetanya Nanda went on to complete his five-wicket haul but Mahendra Singh Dhoni`s swashbuckling 84 and Rahul Dravid`s patient 69 helped Rest of India score 302 in their second essay, in addition to their 75-run first innings lead.
